Green Hope student named arts finalist

Sam Hamashima, a student at Green Hope High School, is a National YoungArts Foundation finalist in musical theater. Hamashima and 170 other finalists will compete in the 33rd annual YoungArts Week in Miami from Jan. 6-12 for awards of $1,000 to $10,000. For more information, go to www.youngarts.org.

Coat drive

East Cary Middle School, Adams Elementary School, Cary Elementary School and Cary High School are collecting coats to donate to the Salvation Army until Friday, Jan. 17.

Genesis Christian Preschool tours

St. Michael School open houses

The St. Michael School in Cary will host open houses. Here’s the schedule:

• 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9. Tours are 9-10 a.m., an information session is from 10-10:30 a.m.

• 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. Tours are 6-7 p.m., an information session is from 7-7:30 p.m.

Green Hope Winter Dance Concert

IMProv at Cary High School

Students will perform in competitive IMProv shows at 7 p.m. one Friday a month through May in the drama studio at Cary High School, 638 Walnut St. Shows will be Jan. 24, Feb. 14, March 21, April 11 and May 16. Admission is $2.

Anxiety workshop

Dr. Aureen Wagner will lead a workshop for parents of kids with anxiety disorders or other problems with anxiety from 7-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at the Davis Drive Middle School auditorium, 2100 Davis Drive, Cary. To register, go to bit.ly/1dkEWsM.

Wrestling club for future Panther Creek students

Panther Creek High School athletics and CREW Wrestling will offer a wrestling program for students in third through eighth grade who plan to attend Panther Creek High School.
