New Cary school will be Green Level High School

January 8, 2014

The Wake County school board on Tuesday approved a name for a new high school in Cary.

The school board picked Green Level High School as the name for the school that will be built along Roberts and Green Level Church roads in western Cary near the Chatham County border. The name was chosen because of the site’s proximity to the Green Level community.

School board members said they’re not worried that the name might confuse people because there’s already a Green Hope High School in Cary.

The school board rejected four other names, including the one backed by Cary municipal leaders. They had wanted it to be called Southwest Cary High.
