• In this week’s News & Observer wrestling rankings, Holly Springs remains No. 1 and Cary is still third. Panther Creek (No. 12) and Athens Drive (No. 13) enter the rankings for the first time this season.

• In The N&O basketball rankings, Panther Creek remains No. 2 in boys basketball and Apex stays at No. 14, but Cary slid out of the top 15. In the girls basketball rankings, Apex jumped to No. 4, Cary fell to No. 7 and Holly Springs (No. 8) and Cardinal Gibbons (No. 11) each moved up.
