Cary resident earns Eagle Scout rank

Erik Salgado of Troop 212 in Cary became an Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting, in September. Erik led a team to plant 32 trees for the town of Cary along paths at Bond Park.

Erik, a sophomore at Apex High School, is the son of Ray and Adair Salgado.

Cary airman graduates from basic training

Air Force Airman Michael Garrett graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas. Garrett, the son of Paul Tilley of Cary, graduated from Green Hope High School in 2011.

Local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary member earns certificate

Jim Frei, Vice Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 054-09-11 in Cary, earned an AUXLAMS class certificate. AUXLAMS is a five-day class on leadership for members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
