Apex Middle donation drive

Donate gifts, clothes, supplies or gift certificates to Apex Middle School students by Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Cougar Giving Tree at the school, 400 E. Moore St. Each student collecting donations is assigned a number. Send wrapped gifts to the school with the student’s number written on the wrapping. Triangle Math and Science students earn perfect Trimathlon scores

Six students of Triangle Math and Science Academy in Cary earned perfect scores in Trimathlon, a national math contest for elementary school students. They were Sebastian Burke, Nitin Chintapalli, Mihika Gottimukkala, Nitya Nalamathu, Ruhie Rapolu and Sukreth Velminetti. The competition included 3,000 students, 20 from Triangle Math and Science Academy. A total of 57 students earned perfect scores.

Winter choral concert

The Holly Springs High School Choral Department’s winter concert will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the school auditorium, 5329 Cass Holt Road. Admission is free.

IMProv at Cary High School

Students will perform in competitive IMProv shows at 7 p.m. one Friday a month through May in the drama studio at Cary High School, 638 Walnut St. Shows will be Dec. 13, Jan. 24, Feb. 14, March 21, April 11 and May 16. Admission is $2.

State government internships

The State Government Internship Program will accept applications from N.C. residents attending colleges, universities, technical institutes or community colleges until Monday, Dec. 16. Thales Academy tours

Thales Academy of Apex will host tours of the junior high and high school programs 8-9 a.m. and the K-5 program 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 1177 Ambergate Station. For more information, go to www.thalesacademy.org.

Scholarship contest

The Fuquay-Varina American Legion Post 116 will hold its annual High School Oratorical Contest at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at 6400 Johnson Pond Road. The winner of the state competition will receive $1,500; national winners will receive up to $18,000. Register by Dec. 14. Genesis Christian Preschool tours

Information for choosing a college

The Holly Springs High School PTSA will host “Finding the Right College for Your Child,” a program with Brooke Daly of Advantage College Planning, at 6:30 p.m. after the 6:15 p.m. PTSA meeting, Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Holly Springs High School, 5329 Cass Holt Road. St. Michael School open houses

The St. Michael School in Cary will host open houses. Here’s the schedule:

• 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9. Tours are 9-10 a.m., an information session is from 10-10:30 a.m.

• 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. Tours are 6-7 p.m., an information session is from 7-7:30 p.m.

Wrestling club for future Panther Creek students

Panther Creek High School athletics and CREW Wrestling will offer a wrestling program for students in third through eighth grade who plan to attend Panther Creek High School. The wrestling club will meet 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the CREW facility, 1823 NW Maynard Road, Cary. Registration costs $50. For details, go to www.crewwrestling.com.
