Doug was a native of Cary the son of William Earl Cooper and Ruby Stevens Cooper. After the death of Doug’s father in 1954, Doug and his two brothers continued to operate Cooper’s Furniture. The family business of 84 years still operates today by third generation. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara Matthews Cooper; Son, John Cooper (Ann); Daughter, Betsy Watkins (Eddie); Son, Bill Cooper (Cherry); Brother, WT Cooper (Marie); Sister, Edna Earle Sturdivant (Joe); Brother, Donald Cooper (Dot). Doug leaves 5 great grandchildren; Cole Cooper, Colbey McKinney; Charlie Watkins; Savannah Bailey, Cale Cooper. One of Doug’s greatest pleasures in life was giving. During his life, not only did Doug give to his children and grandchildren, he gave to many charities. Nothing would make Doug Cooper any happier for people to contribute to The Ronald MacDonald House, Hospice of Wake County or a charity of your choice.
