Art Extravaganza

The Fuquay-Varina Arts Council’s Art Extravaganza continues with an exhibition, pictures with Santa and kids’ activities from 1-5 p.m. at 405 Broad St., Fuquay-Varina.

Crafts for kids

Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve will host a nature-inspired holiday craft program for ages 5-8 from 2-4 p.m. at 2616 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary. Registration is required. To register, call 919-387-5980.

Winter scavenger hunt

A scavenger hunt for kids and families will be from 2-3:30 p.m. starting at the New Hill parking area of the American Tobacco Trail, 1309 New Hill-Olive Chapel Road, Apex. Cost is $5 per family or $3 per individual. To register, call 919-387-2117.

Winter Wrap Up

Families will learn about winter weather with experiments and try pine needle tea at Crowder District Park’s Winter Wrap Up from 2-3 p.m. at 4709 Ten-Ten Road, Apex. The program costs $5 per family, and registration is required. To register, call 919-662-2850.

‘Downton Abbey’ holiday party

Barnes & Noble will host a “Downton Abbey” holiday party at 3 p.m. at 760 SE Maynard Road, Cary. Come in costume for tea and a trivia contest with the Daughters of the British Empire in N.C.

Story time

Story time with Santa will be from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Park West 14 theater lobby in Park West Village, 3400 Village Market Place, Morrisville. There will also be free train rides around the center from 3-9 p.m.

Healthy Homes Series

Cary-based nonprofit Fit & Able Productions’ Healthy Homes Series will include a discussion on health, fitness and safety during the holidays from 9:30-11 a.m. in the Maple Room of the Bond Park Community Center at Fred G. Toddler Story Time

Barnes & Noble will host story time for toddlers at 10 a.m. Tuesdays at 760 SE Maynard Road, Cary.

Moonlight Meander

Explore Harris Lake County Park after dark during the full moon from 5-6:30 p.m. starting at the Loblolly Shelter, 2112 County Park Drive, New Hill. Participants must register two days in advance. Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest

Children ages 8-13 are invited to compete in the annual Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Bond Park Community Center, 150 Metro Park Drive, Cary. Winners will move on to district, state, regional and national competitions. National winners will join the Basketball Hall of Fame. Christmas decoration party
