Cary woman charged in Raleigh crash that injured 4

December 10, 2013

— The driver of a car involved in a weekend crash on Tryon Road just outside Raleigh was charged with four felony counts of inflicting serious injury by motor vehicle while driving impaired.

Mary Catherine Marett, 27, was arrested by Trooper J.W. Carroll and taken to the Wake County Detention Center on Saturday morning from WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, where she had been taken after the 12:30 a.m. crash.

In arrest warrants, Carroll charged that driving while impaired “was a proximate cause” of the collision that hurt passengers in Marett’s car and the driver of the other car involved.

Carroll also issued Marett citations for driving with a revoked license and failure to yield the right of way to another car.

Marett was listed on the arrest warrants and on an arrest report as living at 1020 Avent Hill Road in Raleigh, but the citations list her address as 2110 Tryon Towne Circle in Cary.

One of the passengers in Marett’s car, Megan Nicole Gross, was listed in serious condition Monday at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where she was transferred from WakeMed Hospital.
