Holiday Home Tour

Apex Historical Society’s Holiday Home Tour will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for kids, at The Rusty Bucket, the Apex Chamber of Commerce and Antiques on Salem. Tickets the day of the tour cost $12. For tickets, go to www.apexhistoricalsociety.com.

Christmas pageant and concert

St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School’s Christmas pageant and band concert will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the school gym at 625 Magdala Place, Apex. The elementary drama and music students will present “Light of the World,” and the middle school Monarch Performing Arts Company and the Liturgical Dance Company will join their story of the nativity. The seventh- and eighth-grade jazz band will perform after the pageant.

Christmas cantata

The Apex United Methodist Church Chancel Choir and Youth Choir will perform “The World Became Flesh” at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, in the church sanctuary, 100 S. Hughes St. Tickets are free. Details: www.apexumc.org.

Be a Santa to a Senior

Give gifts to local seniors who are alone or in need during the holidays with Be a Santa to a Senior. Take an ornament, listing a gift suggestion, from one of the program’s trees in Cary, Holly Springs or Morrisville. Letters to Santa

Kids can send a letter to Santa through the Santa Mailbox in Cary Town Hall until Friday, Dec. 13, at 316 N. Academy St. Include your child’s name and address for Santa to write back.

Holly Daze Shoppe

Downtown Cary’s pop-up shop will sell handcrafted gifts from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays until Dec. 21 at 120 E. Chatham St. New artists’ work will be featured each week.

‘A Cary Christmas 2013: Songs of the Season’

First Baptist Church of Cary will celebrate Christmas with a reception at 5:30 p.m. in the dining hall and a presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary Sunday, Dec. 8, at 218 S. Academy St.

‘A Christmas Story’

Advent study

Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church will host a study of “The Journey: Walking the Road to Bethlehem” by Adam Hamilton from 11 a.m.-noon or 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 11 and 18, in the church’s Session Room, 200 High Meadow Drive, Cary. Classes started Dec. 4. Evening sessions include a separate class for kids, and child care is available for both sessions with registration.

The Concert Singers of Cary will sing holiday music at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Karen Hart will join the singers as a soloist, guitarist and percussionist. Blue Christmas Service

The Good Shepherd United Church of Christ’s Blue Christmas Service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at 1050 NW Maynard Road, Cary. The quiet, reflective service is for people coping with loss, grief, illness or other difficulty during the holidays. All are welcome, and child care is provided.

Candlelight service and sledding

Angel Tree

Donate Christmas gifts for kids by taking a tag from the Angel Tree and returning with unwrapped gifts by Monday, Dec. 9, in Holly Springs Town Hall, 128 S. Main St. Each tag lists a child’s age and gender. The New Horizons Christmas Store volunteers will pick up gifts Dec. 9.

Main Street Christmas

Festivities will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Town Hall and the Holly Springs Cultural Center. There will be a parade, hay rides, visits with Santa, stories with Mrs. Claus and more.

Happy Holly Days Parade

The parade will step off at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in downtown Holly Springs. Floats, dancers, marching groups and more will begin at Holly Springs Road and end at Ballentine Street.

‘Holiday Swing’

The Route 55 Jazz Orchestra will perform “Holiday Swing” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Holly Springs Cultural Center, 300 Ballentine St. Tickets are $7, $5 for seniors and students, at 919-567-4000 or www.etix.com.

Morrisville

‘Magical Winter Lights’

A light show by Paintscaping will be on the Park West 14 movie theater building at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, to Thursday, Dec. 12, in Park West Village, 3400 Village Market Place. Carolers will perform between light shows.

Story time with Santa will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, and 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15, in the Park West 14 theater lobby.

There will be free train rides around the center from 3-9 p.m. until Sunday, Dec. 15.
