Toy drive at Holly Grove Middle

Holly Grove Middle School in Holly Springs will collect donated toys for the Ronald McDonald House until Thursday, Dec. 12, at 1401 Avent Ferry Road, Holly Springs.

Theater production at Mills Park Middle

Mills Park Middle School in Cary will present Spot-Light Theatre’s production of “30 Reasons Not to be in a Play,” which features a cast and crew of more than 75 middle school students. Show times are 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5; 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6; and 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the school, 441 Mills Park Drive, Cary. Tickets are $5.

St. Michael School open houses

The St. Michael School in Cary will host open houses. Here’s the schedule:

• 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Tours are 9-10 a.m., an information session is from 10-10:30 a.m.

• 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9. Tours are 9-10 a.m., an information session is from 10-10:30 a.m.

• 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. Tours are 6-7 p.m., an information session is from 7-7:30 p.m.

Holiday Shoppe at Cary Academy

Cary High School Concert Chorus performances

The Cary High School Concert Chorus will sing in downtown Cary’s Olde Time Winter Festival at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. The group will sing again in the Candlelight Tea at 3 p.m. at Raleigh Moravian Church, 1816 Ridge Road.

East Cary Middle School tours

East Cary Middle, a year-round school, will host campus tours for parents of prospective students at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at 1111 SE Maynard Road, Cary. An open house will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the auditorium; staff will answer questions and talk about the school’s STEM program that focuses on science, technology, engineering and math.

Winter Choral Concert

The Winter Choral Concert of the Cary High School Fine Arts Department will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the school’s auditorium, 638 Walnut St. The Women’s Ensemble, A Capella Ensemble, Concert Chorus and Cary High School Orchestra will perform. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students, with a family maximum of $15.

Cary High School book fair

The Cary High School performing arts book fair will be 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Barnes & Noble, 760 SE Maynard Road, Cary. The school’s orchestra will perform at 1 p.m., and the Concert Chorus will perform at 5:30 p.m. Participate online at bn.com/bookfairs with ID number 11211117.

Cary High School chorus sings at the Capitol

The Cary High School Concert Chorus will sing at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, in the N.C. State Capitol Rotunda, 1 E. Edenton St., Raleigh.

IMProv at Cary High School

Students will perform in competitive IMProv shows at 7 p.m. one Friday a month through May in the drama studio at Cary High School, 638 Walnut St. Shows will be Dec. 13, Jan. 24, Feb. 14, March 21, April 11 and May 16. Admission is $2.

State government internships

The State Government Internship Program will accept applications from N.C. residents attending colleges, universities, technical institutes or community colleges until Monday, Dec. 16. Thales Academy tours

Scholarship contest

The Fuquay-Varina American Legion Post 116 will hold its annual High School Oratorical Contest at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at 6400 Johnson Pond Road. The winner of the state competition will receive $1,500; national winners will receive up to $18,000. Register by Dec. 14. Wrestling club for future Panther Creek students

Panther Creek High School athletics and CREW Wrestling will offer a wrestling program for students in third through eighth grade who plan to attend Panther Creek High School.
