Fuquay-Varina Veterans Day Ceremony

Military Missions in Action will host its fifth annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. and start the Tee-off the Troops Golf Classic at 11 a.m. at Bentwinds Country Club, 6536 Dornoch Place, Fuquay-Varina. Speakers will include N.C. Sen. Richard Burr, Miss N.C. Johna Edmonds, Gilbert Lowery, who is the author of “The Untold Experiences of a Navy Corpsman,” and the American Legion Riders of Post 116.

Veterans Day ceremony in Cary

A flag-raising ceremony to honor veterans will start at 10:50 a.m. at the Cary Family YMCA, 101 YMCA Drive, Cary. A reception will follow, and at noon volunteers will start the Reading of the Fallen, reading names of 1,800 veterans who have died in the line of duty.

Bruce Martindale at Barnes & Noble

On Veterans Day, author Bruce Martindale will talk about and sign his new book, “A Naval Signalman During World War II,” at 4 p.m. at 760 SE Maynard Road, Cary.
