Challenge Island launch

Challenge Island, a kids’ education and enrichment program, will hold a grand-opening launch event 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Holly Springs Cultural Arts Center, 300 W. Veterans Day ceremony

A flag-raising ceremony to honor veterans will start 10:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Cary Family YMCA, 101 YMCA Drive, Cary. A reception will follow, and at noon volunteers will start the Reading of the Fallen, reading names of 1,800 veterans who have died in the line of duty.

Bruce Martindale at Barnes & Noble
