Cary’s inaugural Great Punkin’ Chuck is a bust

October 25, 2013

— The town has canceled its inaugural Great Punkin’ Chuck on Nov. 3 after not enough people signed up.

The event, planned for Bond Park, was to mix science, technology and fun as teams competed for prizes by hurling pumpkins with trebuchets.

The town’s Great Pumpkin Carve is still on, from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Downtown Performance Green. Pumpkins will be for sale for $3, and there will be free 3D pumpkin carving lessons at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. for those who register by email to For more Halloween events, search “Halloween” at or call 919-469-4061.
