F-V First Baptist collecting for Interact

The Women’s Ministry of First Baptist Church of Fuquay-Varina will collect for Interact of Wake County, a domestic-violence shelter for women and children, during morning service 9:45 Sunday, Oct. 27, at 105 N. West St.

Concerts for a Cause

Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church will present performances by Nathaniel Olson, the church’s Music Ministry and combined choirs of Cary at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at 200 High Meadow Drive, Cary. The musical tribute to the hymns and songs of George Beverly Shea will raise money for Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian international relief organization.


Resurrection Lutheran Church will host trunk-or-treating 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at 100 W. Lochmere Drive, Cary.

Fall Festival at White Plains

White Plains United Methodist Church will host its Fall Festival 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary. There will be a chili cook-off, games, kids’ activities, a costume contest, a Puppet Ministry performance and trunk-or-treating for kids and parents.

Annual Fall Festival at Woodhaven Baptist

First Baptist Church of Cary will host Festival 31, a festival for kids in fifth grade or younger and their families, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at 218 S. Academy St. There will be food, kids’ activities and trunk-or-treating.

Tutors needed

The Kirk Outreach After-School Learning Academy seeks volunteers to help first- and second-grade students from Briarcliff Elementary School with homework one or more days per week. A family support ministry organized by Mary Williams-Farrington and the Pardoned by Christ Ministry will meet the second Tuesday of every month. The Brown Bag Ministry, which feeds more than 1,400 people a week, is looking for middle- and high school-age volunteers.
