Whisk, a new kitchen store in Cary, will celebrate its grand opening with cooking classes, giveaways, product demonstrations and samplings from Friday, Nov. 1, to Sunday, Nov. 3, at 316 Colonades Way, Suite 214.

Zaxby’s, a chicken restaurant, is under construction in Holly Springs and plans to open this winter at 101 Grand Hill Place, next to Target.

Dave & Buster’s will open in Cary Towne Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The location is hiring for 200 positions.


The Cary Chamber of Commerce will host an Eye Opener Breakfast with Dr. Jim Merrill, superintendent of the Wake County Public School System, 8-9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Prestonwood Country Club, 300 Prestonwood Parkway, Cary. Members of the Cary Chamber of Commerce will meet for Business After Hours 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Hendrick Chevrolet, 100 Auto Mall Drive, Cary. The event is free to Chamber members, and registration is not required.

The Apex Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards Banquet will be 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Prestonwood Country Club, 300 Prestonwood Parkway, Cary. Tickets cost $75 each, and are only available to Chamber members. For tickets and details, go to


Locke Raper was hired as the new executive director of marketing at Burkhead Brand Group, an advertising agency in Cary.


Sean Pera, a pastry cook at The Umstead Hotel and Spa’s restaurant Herons in Cary, won the International Pastry Competition on Oct. 1 in New York.


Supercuts Hair Salon will donate 10 percent of all sales from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at its location at 8761 Holly Springs Road, to the American Cancer Society.

Creech Chiropractic will accept donations of coats, gloves, scarves, blankets and warm hats during its Annual Coat Drive until the end of October at 800 W. Williams St., Suite 201, Apex. Donations will be given to The Church in the Woods, a local homeless ministry.
