Cary resident places in International Autoharp Championship

Doug Pratt of Cary won third place in the International Autoharp Championship, which was held at the 42nd Annual Walnut Valley Festival Sept. 19 in Winfield, Kansas.

Sen. Barringer receives Legislator Rising Star of the Year Award

State Sen. Tamara Barringer, who represents Cary, received The Arc of North Carolina’s first Legislator Rising Star of the Year Award. The Arc of North Carolina is an organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The award recognizes new members of the General Assembly who advocate for people with such disabilities.

Cary Boy Scout earns Eagle Scout rank

Andrew Taylor, of Troop 210, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting. To earn this rank, he built and installed five bluebird houses and three bird feeders at East Cary Middle School, part of an effort to get the school certified as a wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Andrew is the son of Tim and Lynda Taylor of Cary.
