Basketball and cheerleading

GriefShare

GriefShare is a 13-week program for people who have lost a loved one.

Single adults movie night

Westwood Baptist Church will host a Single Adults Movie Night with a screening of “Home Run” from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at 200 Westhigh St., Cary. The group is open to anyone over 18 who is not married or is divorced or widowed. For details, call the church at 919-469-9393.

Yard sale

An indoor yard sale will raise money for a food pantry from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1005 Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina. Donations will be accepted at the church from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, and Friday, Sept. 27.

Prayer, worship service

White Plains United Methodist Church will host prayer stations at 9 a.m. and a combined worship service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at 313 SE Maynard Rd, Cary. There will be a luncheon after the service.

Instrumental night of praise

The Caryllons, the handbell choir at First Baptist Church, will lead an instrumental night of praise at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the church, 218 S. Academy St., Cary.

Coat distribution

First Baptist Church will have a free coat distribution, part of the Touching Lives for Christ mission, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in the church’s dining hall, 218 S. Academy St., Cary. For details, go to www.caryfbc.org/missions.

Lobster Fest

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed at Semillas de Amor, or Seeds of Love, an after-school program of the Hispanic ministry at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary. The program meets from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. No teaching experience necessary. Volunteers do not need to speak Spanish. Brown Bag Ministry

The Brown Bag Ministry, which feeds more than 1,400 people a week, is looking for middle- and high school-age volunteers. The group meets at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex about 9 a.m. Saturdays. Volunteers prepare bagged meals and hand them out in Raleigh. ReFuel

Sunrise United Methodist Church will host a new casual worship service at 5:05 p.m. Saturday afternoons at 5420 Sunset Lake Road, Holly Springs. ReFuel will be a supportive group with a relaxed pace.
