Wake County Big Sweep
Big Sweep volunteers will collect litter in Cary, Fuquay-Varina and Morrisville until Saturday, Oct. 12. During last year’s Big Sweep, more than 1,000 volunteers cleared almost 15,000 pounds of trash from 52 miles of shoreline, park land and roadsides. Annual Charity Classic
Registration for the Annual Charity Classic golf tournament will begin at noon Friday, Sept. 27, at Devils Ridge Golf Club, 5107 Linksland Drive, Holly Springs. The tournament will begin at 1 p.m., and a family festival will begin at 6 p.m. The event will raise funds for MDA’s Augie’s Quest, Employee Partners Care Foundation and the Holly Springs High School Golden Hawks Club. Participation in the tournament costs $75 for members and $85 for non-members. The family festival costs $15 for adult members, $20 for adult nonmembers, $8 for members under 12, and $10 for nonmembers under 12.
Fit to Lead 5K
The Raleigh Jaycees will host their annual Fit to Lead 5K race at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at WakeMed Soccer Park, 201 Soccer Park Drive, Cary. Dharma and Yoga Fest
The Dharma and Yoga Fest will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Hindu Society of North Carolina, 309 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville. There will be booths and a discussion on four types of yoga, a documentary screening, skits and dance. The event’s organizers aim to make the community aware of the benefits of dharma and yoga for health, happiness and peace.
