ESL classes

Westwood Baptist Church will sponsor English as a Second Language (ESL) classes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays until Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 200 Westhigh St., Cary. Students can enroll at any time. Tutors needed

The Kirk Outreach After-School Learning Academy seeks volunteers to help first- and second-grade students with homework one or more days per week. Yard sale

An indoor yard sale will raise money for a food pantry from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1005 Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina. Donations will be accepted at the church from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, and Friday, Sept. 27.

Prayer, worship service

White Plains United Methodist Church will host prayer stations at 9 a.m. and a combined worship service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at 313 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. There will be a luncheon after the service.

Instrumental night of praise

The Caryllons, the handbell choir at First Baptist Church, will lead an instrumental night of praise at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the church, 218 S. Academy St., Cary.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Holly Springs United Methodist Church hosts “There is a Solution” Alcoholics Anonymous group meetings from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at 108 Avent Ferry Road.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed at Semillas de Amor, or Seeds of Love, an after-school program of the Hispanic ministry at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. The program meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. No teaching experience is necessary. Volunteers do not need to speak Spanish. Bible studies for adults

Brown Bag Ministry

The Brown Bag Ministry, which feeds more than 1,400 people a week, is looking for middle and high school volunteers. The group meets at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex about 9 a.m. Saturdays. Volunteers prepare bagged meals and hand them out in Raleigh.
