Student struck by car near West Cary Middle

September 17, 2013

— An 11-year-old West Cary Middle School student was hurt Tuesday morning when a car hit him near the school, Cary police said.

The student, a boy, did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, town spokeswoman Susan Moran said.

The boy was taken to a hospital, and a parent was in the ambulance with him, Moran said.

The car reportedly was not traveling fast when the accident happened shortly before 8 a.m.

Police diverted traffic from NW Maynard Road for a time while they established what had happened.

The school is at the corner of Evans and NW Maynard roads.
