Church picnic and concert

Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church’s fall picnic will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at 200 High Meadow Drive, Cary. ESL classes

Westwood Baptist Church will sponsor English as a Second Language (ESL) classes from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays until Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 200 Westhigh St., Cary. Journey to Financial Freedom

Westwood Baptist Church will provide a Journey to Financial Freedom workshop from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at 200 Westhigh St., Cary. Richard Hill and the Crossroads Financial Freedom Ministry Team will lead the program. Childcare will be provided.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed at Semillas de Amor, or Seeds of Love, an after-school program of the Hispanic ministry at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary. The program meets from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. No teaching experience necessary. Volunteers do not need to speak Spanish. Raleigh Christian Women’s Connection

Brown Bag Ministry

The Brown Bag Ministry, which feeds more than 1,400 people a week, is looking for middle- and high school-age volunteers. The group meets at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex about 9 a.m. Saturdays. Volunteers prepare bagged meals and hand them out in Raleigh.
