Wake County Big Sweep
Big Sweep volunteers will collect litter in Cary, Fuquay-Varina and Morrisville until Saturday, Oct. 12. During last year’s Big Sweep, more than 1,000 volunteers cleared almost 15,000 pounds of trash from 52 miles of shoreline, park land and roadsides. Devils Ridge Charity Golf Classic
The Men’s Golf Association of Devils Ridge Golf Club will host the Devils Ridge Charity Golf Classic at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 5107 Linksland Drive, Holly Springs. Amberly Search for a Cure 5K
The third annual Amberly Search for a Cure 5K event will be at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in the Amberly Residents Club, 1075 Residents Club Drive, Cary. Registration fee is $30 by Sept. 20; $40 the day of the race. All proceeds will benefit CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. A fundraiser for the YMCA will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Havana Grill, 404 W. Chatham St., Cary. Lunch costs $20, and organizers ask that participants donate a $10 gift for a raffle drawing. All proceeds will be donated to the YMCA.
Eastern Triangle Farm Tour

Movies in the Park series
“The Prince of Egypt” will be shown Friday, Sept. 27, at Falcon Park, 611 E. Academy St., Fuquay-Varina. Free popcorn and drinks will be served. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. The Movies in the Park series, now in its seventh year, is sponsored by Cornerstone Family Church and organized by the Fuquay-Varina Parks & Recreation Department.
