Art classes at The Halle

Rock-painting class

Kids 10 and older will paint rocks with teacher Lynne Fisher from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Southern Charm Gift Boutique in Cary Towne Center, 1105 Walnut St., Cary. The class costs $15. Register at www.etsy.com/shop/southerncharmgifts2.

'Swing, Swang, Swung'

The Route 55 Jazz Orchestra will play in the “Swing, Swang, Swung” concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Holly Springs Cultural Center, 300 W. Ballentine St. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, at www.etix.com. For details, call 919-567-4000.

Alabama Shakes

The band Alabama Shakes will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary. Tickets are $30 at www.boothamphitheatre.com.

Apex Jazz Festival

The Apex Downtown Business Association’s third annual Apex Jazz Festival will be Saturday, Sept. 21, in downtown Apex. Artists will perform along Salem Street. Tickets are $10 and include entry to all participating venues. Sponsors and volunteers are needed for the festival.

The Johnny Cash Experience

Learn about library music resources

Wake County Public Libraries staff will demonstrate the online music resources provided by the library from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Eva Perry Regional Library, 2100 Shepherd’s Vineyard Drive, Apex. Call 919-387-2100 for details.

Art quilt exhibit

The Professional Art Quilters Alliance-South will present its annual exhibit, ARTQUILTS freezeframe, from Thursday, Sept. 26, to Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, 111 Ambassador Loop, Cary. A reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27. The exhibit features works by artists inspired by photography.

Floral run-and-drip painting class

Allen Montague will teach students 12 and older to use his run-and-drip painting technique from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Southern Charm Gift Boutique in Cary Towne Center, 1105 Walnut St., Cary.
