Local students serve as pages
Griffin Fletcher Matsuo of Cary and Treston Amon Farrington of Holly Springs served as pages in the N.C. Senate last spring.
Pages serve for one week, attending Senate sessions and committee meetings and assisting staff members with clerical duties. Griffin was sponsored by Sen. Tamara Barringer. Sen. Phil Berger sponsored Treston.
Griffin, the son of Christopher and Amy Matsuo, attended Green Hope High School.
Treston, the son of Shelley Farrington, attended Holly Springs High School.
Cary Girl Scouts earn Silver Awards
Jessica Gehrin of Cary earned the Girl Scout Silver Award, one of the highest achievements in Girl Scouting. For her Silver Award project, Jessica worked to help animals living in shelters. She made and distributed pamphlets on animal safety. She also sold homemade dog treats to raise money for supplies to make beds and blankets for animals in shelters. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop #41 led by Lisa Rorhbach and Bann Bardon.
Sarah Moody of Cary earned the Girl Scout Silver Award. She led a group that made and sent inspirational boxes with pick-me-up notes to families at the Ronald McDonald House. Sarah, the daughter of David and Nancy Moody, is a member of Girl Scout Troop #1860 led by Sally McNamee.
Lauren Wagner of Cary earned the Girl Scout Silver Award with projects to help stray cats and dogs. She made a brochure that features instructions for people who find stray animals, and she made blankets for animals waiting for adoption at a local PetSmart store. Lauren is a member of Troop #1860 led by Wanda Schram.
