From staff reportsAugust 29, 2013

— Twelve-year-old Sydney McCoy of Apex is set to appear in the show “Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off,” which premieres Sept. 8 on Food Network.

During the show, eight kids will be divided into teams led by chefs Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri. They will compete in culinary challenges, participate in pop quizzes, have mentoring sessions with their team leaders and create a menu for the cook-off.

Judges will then test the dishes. At the end, the child chef with the highest overall score will win his or her own web series on www.foodnetwork.com.

Sydney has been cooking since she was 4. She has appeared on “Rachael Ray Show” and has her own YouTube channel, “At Home with Sydney,” in which she teaches viewers how to cook.

Sydney has also won a national “Action for Healthy Kids” award.

In Apex, she even has her own day: June 2 was designated as Sydney McCoy Day.
