Preschool open house

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed at Semillas de Amor, or Seeds of Love, an after-school program of the Hispanic ministry at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary. The program will begin meeting again from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday after Tuesday, Sept. 10. No teaching experience is necessary. Volunteers do not need to speak Spanish. Youth summer programs

White Plains United Methodist Church has weekly programs for middle school and high school students from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the youth room at the church, 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary.

Celebrate Recovery for Women

Brown Bag Ministry

The Brown Bag Ministry, which feeds more than 1,400 people a week, is looking for middle- and high school-age volunteers. The group meets at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex about 9 a.m. Saturdays. Volunteers prepare bagged meals and hand them out at Moore Square in Raleigh. ‘Boundaries’ workshops

Christian psychologists Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend will teach “Boundaries,” a self-help series of workshops for ages 15 and up from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays from Aug. 18 to Oct. 13 at the First Reformed Church of Cary, 555 SW Maynard Road. The cost is $21 per person. For details, go to

The Chabad of Cary and the Jewish Learning Institute will offer an education series for the High Holidays on three Tuesdays, beginning at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Chabad of Cary, 909 Reedy Creek Road, Cary.
