Chatham Street to close Wednesday for marquee installation

From staff reportsAugust 19, 2013

— A stretch of Chatham Street will be closed to traffic and pedestrians for much of the day Wednesday as workers install the framework for a 3,500-pound marquee in front of The Cary theater, which is undergoing renovations.

Weather permitting, Chatham Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Academy Street to Roger Alley. East Cedar Street should be used as a detour, according to the town.

The Cary, which is the town’s original movie theater, is expected open this winter.
