Art needed for auction

The “Let there be ART” Benefit Art Auction to support the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council is seeking artists who work in any medium. Artists must register by Friday, Aug. 30. ‘Grease’ sing-along

“Grease” enthusiasts can sing along with the show during a screening of the film at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary. Regular tickets are $12; $7 for kids; $11 for students, seniors and military personnel. Prices increase by $3 the day of the show. Lawn chairs, blankets and food and beverages are permitted. Village Art Circle show

The Village Art Circle will display work by 17 artists from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays until Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Ashworth Village, 200 S. Academy St., Cary. The featured artist is Leslie Pruneau. The Art Circle will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, during the Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival.

Anniversary party for Cary Gallery of Artists

Celebrate the eighth anniversary of the Cary Gallery of Artists with art and cake from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at 200 S. Academy St., Suite 120, Cary. Open house at Waverly Artists Group

Art class with Grace Li Wang

Artist Grace Li Wang will teach two art classes for ages 12 and up from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, and Saturday, Sept. 21, at her studio at 319 Lochside Drive, Cary. Participants will learn about art composition, color and the use of oil- and water-based materials for drawing and painting. Classes, including supplies, cost $50 each. Registration is required. Downtown Performers Series

Depot Concert Series at The Halle

The Halle Cultural Arts Center is presenting the 2013 Depot Concert Series. The free outdoor concerts will continue through October in the parking lot of the historic train depot at 220 N. Salem St. All shows begin at 7 p.m. Alcohol and pets are prohibited. Here’s the remaining schedule:

Rescheduled Brian Horton Quartet concert

The Sertoma Series concert featuring the Brian Horton Quartet has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Bad weather canceled the original concert date in July. For details, call 919-469-4061.

Apex Jazz Festival

The Apex Downtown Business Association’s third annual Apex Jazz Festival will be Saturday, Sept. 21, in downtown Apex. Artists will perform along Salem Street. Tickets are $10 and include entry to all participating venues. Sponsors and volunteers are needed for the festival.

Art quilt exhibit

The Professional Art Quilters Alliance-South will present its annual exhibit, ARTQUILTS freezeframe, from Thursday, Sept. 26, to Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Page-Walker Arts and History Center, 111 Ambassador Loop, Cary. A reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27. The exhibit features works by artists inspired by photography.
