Discussion series for seniors

Summer Blast Carnival

Cub Scout Pack 312’s annual Summer Blast carnival will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Apex Jaycee Park, 451 W. Williams St., Apex. Families will play games and learn about Cub Scouts. For details, email joinscouts@pack312.org.

SAT and ACT practice tests

Wake County Public Libraries and Kaplan Test Prep will host a free practice session for the SAT and ACT tests from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at West Regional Library, 4000 Louis Stephens Drive. The tests will be returned and reviewed at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16. Registration is required. Call 919-463-8500.

Barnes & Noble supports local libraries

Barnes & Noble customers can donate to Wake County Public Libraries from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 760 SE Maynard Road. Customers who use a special code – 11117702 – when purchasing books will send a percentage of the proceeds from the sale to support the book collections of local libraries. The same donation will be available for online purchases from Aug. 24-29.

Bloodmobile in Cary

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Cary from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at West Regional Library, 4000 Louis Stephens Drive.

To register, go to www.redcrossblood.org, look for “Find a blood drive near you,” click “Enter a Sponsor Code” and use “Wake Library” as the sponsor code. Registration is not required.

Robot Extravaganza

Children’s Expo

The Goddard School will present a children’s expo from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 4027 Davis Drive, Morrisville. The event will feature a free carnival with food and activities for infants through 6-year-olds.
