Cary student stars in play

Kendall McCarthy, a homeschooled high school student in Cary, is starring in “In the Heights” at the N.C. Theatre Conservatory.

Apex resident earns Eagle Scout rank

Austin Jones of Apex has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting.

For his Eagle project, Austin designed and led construction of two flower beds by the walkway to the playground at Merritt’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill.

Austin, the son of Dwight and Denise Jones, is a member of Troop 316 and a recent graduate of Wake Christian Academy.

Cary student serves as page

Kayleigh Ratashak of Cary recently served as a page for a week in the N.C. House of Representatives.

Pages deliver bills and other documents for lawmakers and help with clerical work and errands around the legislature.

Kayleigh was sponsored by Rep. Nelson Dollar and is the daughter of Kenneth and Shanna Ratashak. Kayleigh attended Athens Drive High School.
