— The town’s plan to develop the area around a future transit station at McCrimmon Parkway and N.C. 54 has won an award.

The McCrimmon Transit Small Area Plan won the 2013 North Carolina Marvin Collins Outstanding Planning Award in Comprehensive Planning – Small Community category, according to a news release from the town. The N.C. Chapter of the American Planning Association gave the award.

The plan, which the Morrisville Town Council adopted in June, calls for “ a vibrant activity center” around the transit station. Town officials hope the area will bring commercial and residential development.
