Ruth Davis: Give it to charity

Give it to charity

Obviously, Cary leaders made a mistake when they commissioned an artist to make the brick sculpture downtown. That’s OK. Everyone makes mistakes.

Now they plan to move the sculpture to the corner of Pleasants Avenue and Kildaire Farm Road, where cars zooming by will have no time to observe it. Do they plan to have a sign made to point people to where it is located? What will the sign call the sculpture? Where will the crowds park?

Why, oh why, do they want to spend another $28,000 on a mistake?

Can’t they donate the bricks to charity to be used for a brick-laying class, or for a planter, or perhaps a wall if the receiver of the donation will come and get the bricks after a Cary public works machine gently pushes them over?

That wouldn’t cost $28,000!
