Police charge 3 in F-V armed robbery

— Police charged three men suspected in several other local robberies with trying to steal from an Arby’s restaurant on June 24.

Denzel Timothy Rasheem Shivers, 19, and Vendai Laprist Irick, 22, both of Fuquay-Varina, and Rodney Jerrold Devin Byrd, 20, of Cary were charged in the incident, which occurred at 1401 N. Main St. after the eatery had closed.

Police believe the suspects had a handgun and demanded the restaurant’s night deposit money, according to a news release from the town of Fuquay-Varina. They are also accused of forcing an employee to access the store safe and deposits and of forcing an employee to hand over a purse and wallet.

They were charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of second-degree kidnapping and one count of felony conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The men also faces charges related to crimes in Durham and Cary, including the June 2 armed robbery of the McDonald’s at 869 SE Maynard Road and the June 17 armed robbery of a store manager at a Wells Fargo bank branch at 1201 Walnut St.

They were also charged with kidnapping an employee of Jared of the Galleria of Jewelry in Durham and forcing her to unlock the store so they could burglarize it. They also robbed the clerk and stole her car, police said.
