The Jersey Mike’s Subs location at Crossroads Plaza in Cary presented a check for $79,292 to the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The money was raised during Jersey Mike's Subs' "Month of Giving" campaign in March.


Business doings

1st and Goal Hospitality, LLC of Cary held a groundbreaking ceremony June 24 for a new 3,800-square-foot, 94-seat Zaxby’s restaurant in Holly Springs Towne Center.

Aqua-Tots Swim School opened June 19 in the High House Crossing shopping center, 2765 N.C. 55, Cary. The year-round facility features a 48-by-28-foot heated indoor pool, free wireless Internet service, a play area for children, snack bar and retail area. Swim lessons are offered for children of all ages and abilities.

Kangaroo Express celebrated the grand opening of Aunt M’s Kitchen on June 22 at 3610 Davis Drive, Morrisville. Aunt M’s Kitchen is a quick-service restaurant concept found at Kangaroo Express stores.

The spa at The Umstead Hotel and Spa will officially reopen after a three-month renovation project on Monday, July 8, at 100 Woodland Pond Drive, Cary.

WakeMed Health & Hospitals has opened Wake Specialty Physicians – General & Bariatric Surgery at 208 Ashville Ave., Suite 14 in Cary. The office provides a variety of comprehensive surgical services and procedures, with a strong skill set in bariatric surgery.


The Morrisville Chamber of Commerce will hold a Knowledgeable Network of Women luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Prestonwood Country Club, 300 Prestonwood Parkway, Cary. Deidre Hughey will present a lectured titled “Kick Your Stuck to the Curb! How to Thrive Through Challenge and Change.” Cost is $25 for employees of member firms and $45 for non-members. Allstate agency owner Walt Dunn of the Dunn Insurance Agency has been designated an Allstate Premier Agency for 2013. The Premier Agency designation is awarded to Allstate agency owners who have demonstrated excellence in delivering an accessible, knowledgeable and personal customer experience, and in achieving outstanding business results.

Netsertive, an online ad tech company based in Morrisville, was recently named the winner of a Maximum Impact Award for Best Dealer Marketing Solution at the Electronic Security Expo on June 20. The company was recognized for the impact of its Digital Extend marketing technology platform.

Modern Woodmen of America representative Daniel Polk has attained the Fraternal Insurance Counsellor designation. The FIC title is an educational designation that can be earned by career life-insurance representatives associated with fraternal insurance societies. Polk is a resident of Cary.
