Ray Czarnecki: Too much Big Brother

Too much Big Brother

It seems that the media, the business community, politicians and almost everyone is outraged over the recently disclosed federal government collection of communication data as an invasion of privacy. I agree that this is a massive invasion of privacy or fishing expedition.

You might be interested to know that right here in Cary, our town government operates an extensive data-collection surveillance operation. As part of the water-meter system, the town routinely collects and stores consumption data minute by minute, 24/7, so that with their surveillance they know our every move. We have objected to this unnecessary surveillance and have been ignored.

How can you help? Send an email to the town of Cary asking officials to read your meter once per month, and tell them you are outraged by their surveillance.
