Memorial Day Celebration

The Turkish House in Cary will celebrate Memorial Day with N.C. Poet Laureate Joseph Bathanti and other local writers at 3 p.m. at 303 E. Durham Road, Suite F, Cary. The event will feature discussions about poetry, politics and spirituality, and the documentary film “Bathanti” will be shown. Inventory of Historic Properties

The Friends of the Page-Walker Hotel will present their annual inventory of Cary’s historic properties at 7:30 p.m. at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, 119 Ambassador Loop, Cary. The program, “What Have We Got to Lose?” will feature a slideshow tour and highlights of properties in Cary’s three National Register historic districts and beyond. Teen Poetry Celebration

Teens in grades six through 10 who entered the Wake County Libraries’ Teen Poetry Contest will be invited to read their poem out loud to an audience from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Eva Perry Regional Library, 2100 Shepherd’s Vineyard Drive, Apex. There will also be activities and games related to poetry.

The town of Cary will hold its annual Dog Days of June event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in field No. 4 at Fred G. Bond Metro Park, 801 High House Road. The event will feature a Skyhoundz canine Frisbee disc competition, charity raffle, local dog rescue groups, dog wash by the Cary Teen Council, vaccinations and microchipping. Celebrate Fuquay-Varina

The Celebrate Fuquay-Varina festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Fuquay.
