Choirfest concert

The third annual Choirfest concert will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at the First United Methodist Church of Fuquay-Varina, 402 N. Main St. Eight choirs from around Fuquay-Varina will perform together to benefit Southern Wake Faith Community in Action. A reception will follow.

DivorceCare support group

A DivorceCare support group and DivorceCare for Kids meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays through May 20 at Sovereign Grace Church, 401 Upchurch St., Apex. Single adults worship night

Hope Community Church will hold its monthly worship night for single adults from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Friday, May 10, at 821 Buck Jones Road, Raleigh. The event will include a potluck dinner (bring an item to share), social time, live worship and a message geared toward singles. Pentecost Sunday volunteering event

White Plains United Methodist Church will celebrate Pentecost Sunday by volunteering at local nonprofits on Sunday, May 19. Volunteers can serve from 8 to 10 a.m. or from 1 to 3 p.m. A combined worship service will be at 10:30 a.m. with District Superintendent Jon Strother and a lunch celebration will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Transportation will be provided from the church at 313 S.E. Writing camp

“Color Your World With Words,” a writing camp for kids ages 8 to 12, will be from Monday, July 15, to Friday, July 19, at Peace Presbyterian Church, 1777 W. Chatham St., Cary. There will be games, stories, poems, lemonade breaks, interviews and time for writing. On Thursday, the campers will take a field trip to the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, followed by a hot dog lunch at Ashworth Drugs. Cost is $150 and includes all supplies.
