The Middle Creek High School Athletic Hall Of Fame induction dinner will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the McKimmon Center at N.C. State University.
Tickets are $25 each and are available at the Middle Creek High School front office, through the Middle Creek High School Stampede Club website or from any Stampede Club member.

Holly Ridge Middle School 5K Race
The Holly Ridge Middle School PTA will host Run for the Ridge, a 5K race through Holly Springs at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 13, beginning at the middle school football field. Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. There will be a chipped, competitive race and a non-competitive fun race/walk. Timed fee is $30 and the non-competitive fee is $25 per person. Friends of the Page-Walker Hotel scholarship
The Friends of the Page-Walker Hotel are offering their 2013 history scholarship to a high school senior who is a Cary resident. The $750 scholarship recognizes a student who exhibits an aptitude and passion for the study of history that could result in a career as a history teacher, museum educator, historian or historic preservationist.
The scholarship recipients name will be displayed on a permanent plaque at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center.
To be eligible, students must submit a 600- 1,000-word essay on a local history topic, along with an application and letter of recommendation from their high school history instructor. The 2013 history scholarship essay topic is The Role of Education in Making Cary What it is Today. Applications are due by Monday, April 15.

Cary student awarded scholarship to attend leadership academy
Green Hope High School student Jennifer Murphy was awarded a scholarship to attend the Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy from Feb. 23 to March 8 at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.
Two hundred and twenty-seven students from 30 countries and 26 U.S. states and territories won scholarships to attend the leadership academy, which provides students with a unique opportunity to engage in sessions addressing current issues in science, technology and engineering. During the week-long program, students simulated jet-fighter pilot training, practiced scenario-based space missions, designed, built and tested their own rockets and met with top scientists, engineers and former astronauts.
Cary boy sits in with symphony
Kevin Xu, a fifth-grader at Davis Drive Elementary School in Cary, has been named the first-place winner in the junior category (age 13 and younger) of this years Peter Perret Youth Talent Search.
The annual competition, hosted by the Winston-Salem Symphony, requires two rounds of live auditions. Kevins first-place win earned him a $250 cash prize and a spot onstage with the symphony at a community concert in Winston-Salem on March 16. Kevin performed Mozarts Piano Concerto K.488.
