Orchids for Huntington’s Disease
In honor of those affected by Huntington’s Disease, the Orchid Trail will donated 100 percent of the first $500 from “Orchids for HD” sales and 50 percent after from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at 402 Church St., Morrisville. Cary Players present ‘Morning’s at Seven’
The Cary Players Community Theatre presents Paul Osborn’s Tony Award-Winning comedy drama, “Morning’s at Seven” at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, April 5-6 and April 12-13; and 3 p.m. Sundays, April 7 and 14 at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave., Cary. The performance on Sunday, April 7, will be audio described by Arts Access for visually challenged patrons.

Celebration of the Arts
The 10th annual Celebration of the Arts Festival is accepting artist applications for booth space until Friday, April 12. The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 1, in downtown Fuquay-Varina. The Celebration of the Arts is part of the annual town-wide festival, Celebrate Fuquay-Varina, and is a juried show open to all artists and fine crafts people producing original work.
Artists must complete an application and submit three images of their work. Booth fees are $85, or $90 after Monday, April 1. Artists must supply their own display equipment. NCCA Girls Chess Tournament
The North Carolina Chess Association will hold a girls chess tournament on Saturday, April 13, at First United Methodist Church, 114 Church St., Henderson. Rounds will be at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Registration ends at 9 a.m. Girls must be USCP members, a N.C. resident and in grade K-12. Pretty In Pink Foundation a cappella concert
A concert to benefit the Pretty in Pink Foundation featuring the General Assembly Chorus titled “An Evening of A Cappella” will be at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Cary Academy, 1500 N. Harrison Ave., Cary. Along with the General Assembly Chorus of Raleigh, two featured acts, Main Street at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Capri, will perform at both shows.
Main Street at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is a men’s quartet that celebrates the traditional style of barbershop harmony and Capri, a Sweet Adelines quartet, are winners of eight top ten International finishes.

Patti Mollica Art Workshop
New York artist, Patti Mollica, author of “Modern Acrylics” and “Color Theory for Painters,” will teach an art workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 14-16 at Waverly Artists Group Studio and Gallery, 302 Colonades Way, Suite 209-D, Cary. Cost is $390 per person and includes basic golden acrylic colors and a lunch on the last day at Enrigo’s Italian Restaurant.
The step-by-step workshop will teach participants how to paint quickly and confidently, using big brushes, bold and unexpected colors. Each participant will finish several small paintings in the span of each day, using either acrylic or oil paints. This style of painting is about letting the paint flow freely and enjoying the process.

The Raleigh/Durham Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will hold its third annual PurpleStride 5k Walk/Race to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer beginning with an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Centiennial Campus at N.C. Bats for Matt Fundraiser
The Matt Cossa Memorial Foundation will host its seventh annual Bats for Matt fundraiser at noon Saturday, April 20, at Green Hope High School, 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road, Cary. Band Together NC charity concert
Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, has announced that American country singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett will headline this year’s charity concert on Saturday, May 4, at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. Wilmington-based Mac and Juice Quartet will open; additional acts and activities will be announced. The concert will benefit the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.
