Aliens in Your Garden

In honor of National Invasive Species Awareness Week, staff will teach residents how to identify non-native invasive plants and show what Lake Crabtree is doing to control the invaders in the park from 1 to 3 p.m. at 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville. For details, call 919-460-3390.

Leadership seminar

A leadership seminar for teens in grades six through 10 will be from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Eva Perry Regional Library, 2100 Shepherd’s Vineyard Drive, Apex.

Friday Night Fun

A children’s event will be at 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 760 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. Story and activities will center around the book, “Emeraldalicious.”

Saturday

Puppet Palooza

The Eva Perry Regional Library will host its second annual Puppet Palooza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2100 Shepherd’s Vineyard Drive, Apex. The library’s puppeteers will present three morning shows. Professional puppet troupe Grey Seal Puppets will present two afternoon performances of “A Tangle of Tales, Folktales from Around the World.” There will be puppet crafts for kids to make their own puppets to take home. Registration for the Grey Seal Puppets shows is required. To register, stop by the library’s Youth Service Desk or call 919-387-2100.

Park Hike

Join a park staff member to see the sights of Harris Lake County Park on a hike of the five-mile Peninsula Trail from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at 2112 County Park Drive, New Hill. Registration is required. To register, call 919-387-4342.

Anna’s Angels Gala

The 10th annual Anna’s Angels Gala will be from 6 p.m. to midnight at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary. Guests include Lauren Potter from the TV show “Glee” and local ABC news anchor Steve Daniels. The event will be black-tie optional with dinner, dancing, silent and live auction and a diamond raffle. Tickets are $115 per person.
