Silly school delays

Why is the Wake County Public School System so conservative when it comes to winter weather?

It seems this winter that the WCPSS has become overly cautious. It has now delayed the start of school several times simply based on the weather forecast the day before. Once I checked – even while the stars were out – and school was scheduled to be delayed the next morning simply due to the chance of a dusting of snow. Another when even the forecast stated that the snow would not stick to road surfaces due to recent warm temperatures.

Why have we become such wimps about a little winter weather? Our kids need to be in school as much as possible. They have scheduled tests, projects, assignments, etc., that are being interrupted by these silly delays.
