Diverse success

I attended the spotlight on schools portion of the Wake County school board meeting on Feb. 19, when 20-plus fourth- and fifth-grade students received awards for accomplishments at their elementary schools.

There have been varied conversations about whether to include diversity in the planning of the schools. The representation of students at this ceremony convinced me that there is diversity in the Wake County schools and must be included in the conversation about where the school system is headed. Wake County is just a microcosm of our global world.
