Protesters are demanding better schools, but we teachers and schools already do the following: feed; clothe; medicate; change diapers; tube feed; have before/after school programs; offer free and reduced breakfasts and lunches; have social workers, nurses, guidance counselors, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, audiologists; teachers for kids who have hearing impairments; teachers for kids who have vision impairments; teachers for kids with behavioral issues; adapted physical education teachers; regular physical education teachers; offer vision and hearing screenings, inoculations; make sure that preschoolers have intervention services; buses to and from school; chorus, art, dance, band, sports, field trips, core classes; and classes that teach trades, technology, assistive technology.

Better schools? Please, show me what one looks like. I can’t imagine there is anything else we could do for our kids to care for and educate them. Is there a specific plan someone can produce for what a “better school” looks like?
