Financial Peace University classes

Genesis United Methodist Church will present Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” classes from 2:30 to 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, through Sunday, April 14, at 850 High House Road, Cary. The new nine-week format is aimed at helping participants gain control of their money and set a plan for insurances, retirement, college savings and giving.

Winter Bible study

Westwood Baptist Church will host a winter Bible study on the book of Daniel from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at 200 Westhigh St., Cary. Bible study and a dinner for adults will be in the fellowship hall. Children ages 2 and older will have crafts, dinner and Bible study. •  White Plains United Methodist Church will hold a Lenten study titled “The Way” at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at 313 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. The class will be led by the Rev. Ray Warren. • A five-week Lenten study titled “The Life You’ve Always Wanted” will be from 11 a.m. to noon or 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church, 200 High Meadow Drive, Cary. The study will be based on the book by John Ortberg, and sessions will be led by the Rev. Jody Welker and the Rev. Melinda Merkley King. Evening sessions will include a separate class for school-age children. Childcare will be available for younger children and infants, with advance reservation, during both day and evening sessions. Fish Fry Lunch/Dinner

The Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Charity Lenten Fish Fry from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 15 through March 22, in the Parish Center at St. Michael the Archangel, 804 High House Road, Cary. Lunch is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Dinner is $10 for adults and $4 for children. Adult meals include fried or baked fish, roasted potatoes, hushpuppies, green beans, dessert and a choice of beverage. Cary Presbyterian Church will host a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 614 Griffis St., Cary. Ash Wednesday service and pancake supper

The youth of Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church will host a family pancake supper from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 200 High Meadow Drive, Cary. Cost is $5 per person with a maximum charge of $20 per family. Proceeds will benefit the Appalachia Service Project. An intergenerational and interactive worship service will be held at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Black History Month Celebration

The African Ancestry Ministry and Evangelization Network Chapter of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will celebrate Black History Month with a program titled “Taste of Africa” from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at 804 High House Road, Cary. There will be a historic drama play, performed by Voices in Concert, titled “Sacred Fire, Phillis Wheatley and Her Friends,” an African fashion show, art displays and “Taste of African” hors d’oeuvres. Father/Princess Dance Volunteers

Passage Home will sponsor a father/princess dance party for girls whose families are clients of Passage Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at their safety club near downtown Raleigh. Genesis United Methodist Chur ch is seeking volunteers to supply and serve dinner. The church is also seeking donations of girl’s party dresses in sizes 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16.
