Gertrude Savacool of Cary, NC, passed away the morning of January 27 after a brief illness. She was a homemaker and was employed for many years by Metaltek, Inc. as a metal fabricator. Her hobbies included travel; quilting for family, friends and various charitable organizations; and bird watching. Gertrude will be greatly missed.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Paul Martin Savacool, and her son, David Savacool of Virginia. She is survived by a brother, Gilbert FitzGerald (Candor, NY); several children, Jane Converse (Dryden, NY), Richard Savacool (Spanaway, WA) and Melora Rabin (Cary, NC); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
No local memorial service is planned, but her family anticipates a summer gathering in Owego, NY.
