Defenseless zones

If the mayor of Morrisville responds as emotionally to other town issues as she has in her request for a local retailer to restrict sales of mislabeled “assault rifles,” the voters of Morrisville may want to reconsider keeping her as mayor.

There is no evidence that gun restrictions will stop criminals from attacks like in Newtown, Conn. Many existing laws were broken by the school shooters. More restrictions won’t stop other criminals either.

There is evidence showing increased gun sales correspond to reduced crime rates. Gun-free schools create safe areas for bad men to attack defenseless groups and shoot without interference. What stops criminals is good people with legal guns who can defend themselves.

The people of Morrisville are defenseless in gun-free zones.
