Cary resident receives Mission Health scholarship

Brittany Lysik, a first-year graduate student at Western Carolina University, is among 24 recipients of a $2,000 scholarship from Mission Health System for the 2012-13 academic year. Lysik is working toward a doctoral degree in physical therapy from WCU’s College of Health and Human Sciences.

She is the daughter of John and Lisa Lysik of Cary. She is a 2008 graduate of Cary High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management at WCU in May.

Boy Scout earns Eagle rank

Michael Schwab received Boy Scouts’ highest rank of Eagle Scout on Jan. 5. For his Eagle Scout project, Schwab designed and built three benches to serve as an outdoor classroom for the St. Thomas More Catholic School in Chapel Hill.

Schwab is the son of Scott and Cheryl Schwab of Durham. He is a graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh and a member of Boy Scout Troop 316 and Venture Crew 316 in Apex.
