Mary Alice Kelley died suddenly on December 29, 2012 of cancer at the age of 85.

She and her husband, Dan, lived in Cary, North Carolina and had shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Her family was her life. She and Dan had six children, Kathy, Maureen, Danny, Janet, Trisha, and Megan. They had 15 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, Emma.

Mary Alice grew up in Norwood, MA, the daughter of Edmund F. and Mary J. Murphy. She graduated from Emmanuel College and taught in the Walpole, MA school system for several years. After her marriage to Dan, they brought up their family in Kingston NY and then lived for many years in Cary, NC.

Mary Alice loved travelling the world with Dan, spending summers on Cape Cod, visiting her grandchildren, and watching her favorite teams –the Red Sox, Celtics and Duke.

Mary Alice is survived by her brother, Edmund Murphy and his wife, Mary of Belleair, FL. Her two sisters, Janet Dinneen and Eleanor Murphy predeceased her.

Her children and grandchildren are:

Kathleen Caldara and her husband Steve, from Sudbury MA, with their daughter Lise Ann and their son Michael and his wife Grace.

Maureen O’Connor and her husband Tim, from Cary, NC with their sons Patrick and Brendan and their daughter Deirdre.

Daniel X. Kelley Jr. and his wife Joan, from Marlton, NJ with their sons Dan, Devin, John and Jared.

Janet McGinnis and her husband Max, from Cumberland, RI with their son Kevin and their daughter Kelley Parsons and son-in-law Matt Parsons and Emma.

Trisha Gavagni and her husband Joe, from Southington, CT with their daughter Katie.

Megan Coppola and her husband John, from Westwood, MA with their sons Kevin and Brian and their daughter Claire.

The family will receive friends 9 - 10:30 am Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary, NC 27513. A service of rememberance will follow the visitation at 10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel College, 400 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115.
