The Cary Invasion announced last week that the team has hired Christopher La Rocca as its new head coach.
La Rocca, 41, has worked various college basketball camps and most recently was an assistant with the Wake Tech Community College men’s team.
The organization said in a press release that La Rocca “brings a network of international player contacts and a diverse background of prior sports management experience,” which includes unspecified roles with the U.S. national soccer team and FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“I am extremely proud to accept the position of Head Coach with the Cary Invasion. This team will represent Cary and the Triangle area in a way Invasion fans will be proud of,” La Rocca said in a statement.
The Invasion will start its third season in April, playing games at the Herb Young Community Center in downtown Cary.
This year’s schedule is out, as is the playoff format. The top two teams from each division will play in a four-team, single-elimination tournament in Fayetteville.
The Invasion will have seven home games, with the season opener on April 7 and the season finale on June 9. Cary is one of few teams in the Tobacco Road Basketball League to have its season opener and season finale both at home.
The team also announced tryout dates, which are Jan. 19 and Feb. 3.
