Cary brothers earn Eagle Scout rank

Charles Reed Smith and Andrew Walker Smith celebrated receiving their rank of Eagle Scout at a joint Eagle Court of Honor on Nov. 25. The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest achievement in Boy Scouts.

For his Eagle Scout project, Charles, 17, lead the construction of two sturdy benches for the playgrounds at Ambassador Presbyterian Church in Apex for parents to sit at while their kids play at the playground. Andrew, 16, led adults, scouts and friends to built two picnics tables at the church for his Eagle Scout project.

The brothers are the sons of Laura and Scott Smith of Cary. They are members of Boy Scout Troop 244 sponsored by Peace Presbyterian Church in Cary.
